THE community came out in force on Friday, October 19, to support the addition of a new tree to Stanhope Park, Holsworthy, which the town won in a radio competition.
Sandra Willets nominated Holsworthy for the BBC Radio Devon ‘Communitree Challenge’. She was thanked by mayor Jon Hutchings who also thanked everyone for voting for the town’s park to receive the tree.
The Cornus Controversa, also known as the ‘Wedding Cake Tree’, was planted in Stanhope Park on Friday morning with a live broadcast on BBC Radio Devon with Toby Buckland and Matt Woodley, who presented the tree.
