THE sun shone for Delabole's annual carnival procession on Saturday, ending a week packed full of free entertainment for residents and visitors alike.

Organisers were delighted with the turnout and support they received all week, with spirits only dampened a little by very heavy Cornish mizzle at the beginning of the week.

The carnival is now in its 15th year since it was resurrected.

The carnival procession was a sight to see, with a Gavioli 52 Keyless Fairground Organ playing in the centre of the village, then an initial drive through by motorcyclists from the Royal British Legion Riders club.

A beautiful shire horse led Delabole's Fairy Carnival Royalty — Maisie Goodman, Hollie Bennett, Evie Vercoe and and Bethany Clark — at the head of the procession.

Five bands and a Morris Dancing group, steam traction engine, tractors, vintage cars, ponies, floats and a stunning array of walking entries entertained those watching the parade.

The hard work that had gone into the floats and costumes was clear to see.

Alan Shore, committee member, said: "After a week of hard work we have had a successful week and a successful carnival."
