STAFF and customers of Truscotts Garage, Launceston, have collected 57kg of food as Launceston Foodbank’s September Business of the Month.

A Launceston Foodbank spokesperson said: “Thank you for your support and generosity, this will make a huge difference for many who find themselves in difficulty and need our help.

“August was a very busy month at the Foodbank and replenishing our stocks to be able to help people in crisis is vital. We have the Harvest Festival coming up and this is a very generous time as we receive support from families, along with schools, colleges and churches.

“As we move towards Christmas and the colder months, this is a time when ‘heat or eat’ becomes an issue with some families and we find there is a bigger demand on us. If you could know someone who needs help, please encourage them to ask, we can refer them to an agency and they will issue them with a foodbank voucher if they feel the need is there to support them.

“Our Business of the Month for October is Launceston Golf Club, thank you to the committee for agreeing to help us.”
