THE Bude Cleaner Seas Project, which raises awareness about bathing water quality at Summerleaze Beach, is pleased to announce the backing of a leading British company and local employer.

Dairy Crest's Davidstow creamery is the largest of its kind in Britain, producing both Cathedral City and Davidstow brands of Cheddar. The creamery sources the majority of its milk from within the catchment of Bude's river Neet, and has given its strong support to Bude Cleaner Seas Project's new Pledge campaign.

Project manager Ian Saltern said: "Our Pledge campaign will ask businesses in the wider Bude area to pledge to support the project by undertaking one or more positive steps. That might be to train staff on the correct disposal of fats, oils and grease, to support local beach cleans, or just to help spread the Cleaner Seas message."
