THE new group ‘Clean Holsworthy’ has held its very first litter pick, and it was a great success.

On Saturday morning, March 7, a group of 14 people attended the group’s first litter pick around the town organised by town councillor Toby Johns and Collette Regan.

Last year Paul Crum from Bude, coordinator of Bude Rubbish Action Group (BRAG), attended a full council meeting to explain what his group does and to see if any councillors would be interested in creating a Holsworthy group.

Cllr Johns was keen to get involved and, with the help of Collette, set up the Clean Holsworthy group.

Paul said: “It was a great pleasure to be asked to attend clean Holsworthy’s first litter pick this morning, as a Keep Britain Tidy litter ambassador. Last year I gave a talk to Holsworthy Town Council about the success of BRAG in Bude, a few weeks later I organised a litter pick and a few people turned up. Last month Cllr Toby Johns and Collette Regan started Clean Holsworthy and today was their first organised litter pick. Fourteen people attended.

“Here’s to more successful litter picks, well done everyone involved, really I am pleased at the team work and involvement of the town council and the community of Holsworthy. Love where you live, love a clean Holsworthy.”

Cllr Johns expressed his thanks to Paul and his wife Laila for allowing the group to use their equipment for the first litter pick.

Toby added: “We were so pleased with the turn out for the first litter pick, it was really great to see a good mixture of ages as well and we hope for the next one that there will be an even better turn out!”
