HOLSWORTHY Town Council recently thanked local artist Rose Hitchings for designing the front cover of the town's newsletter.

Rose and her husband Chris have lived in Bridgerule for around ten years. She has worked as a dinner lady and a library assistant, but has always been fond of art.

Self-admittedly Rose struggled with 'real life drawings' but found a love for caricature.

She has displayed her work at many local exhibitions, including the Ruby Country Art Exhibition at Holsworthy Memorial Hall, where of eight art works sold over the weekend, three were by Rose.

Some of her work is displayed at Holsworthy Golf Club, Rydon Inn, Hatherleigh Gallery and a selection of cards is at Holsworthy Visitor Information Centre.
