A SERIES of concerts raised a record amount of funds for charities over the weekend.

Bude and Holsworthy Circuit Singers presented 'Love is in the Air' over three nights last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The concerts were held at Hartland Parish Hall, Bude Methodist Church and St Marwenne's Parish Church, Marhamchurch, conducted by Andrew Pitt. A number of 'love' songs were used by Sarah Riviere, while Lorna Cox wrote narration on 'love', which she narrated between the songs. All three venues saw full houses with audiences showing their appreciation with constant applause.

Musicians providing accompaniment were Sarah Riviere on piano, Coral Locke, guitar, Matt Bosustow, bass and Cliff Pryor, drums.

A grand total of £1,560 was raised over the weekend — £420 at Hartland for North Devon Hospice; £765 at Bude for CLIC Sargent, £375 at Marhamchurch for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Marhamchurch Ringers Bell Frame Fund.
