AROUND 40 mothers and grandmothers attended a celebration service for Mothering Sunday at Delabole Methodist Church.

It was a combined service with congregations from St John's Church and the Methodist Church coming together.

Music was provided by Helen Hicks on the organ and Stuart Biddick on the electric piano.

The service was jointly led by the Rev Bryan Ede and Sue Wilcox, and the congregation was asked many questions around the theme of 'Who helps mum?'

Patricia Molloy and Barbara Tyson acted out a story entitled 'Mum's the Word,' which brought home the true meaning of Mothering Sunday.

Just before the service came to a close, the congregation was given pot plants as a gift from the church, followed by some light refreshments.
