ON July 9 and 10, Davidstow Church will once again throw open its doors to celebrate everything Cornish.

Church warden, Bill Pearce, said: “We are working hard so we can have another successful weekend celebrating in true Cornish style.”

The celebrations begin at 2pm on Saturday with a Cornish craft market, face painting, competitions for all and ‘Say it in Cornish!’

There will be a sizzling hog roast as well as other refreshments to enjoy.

The Press Gang Singers will be back at 7pm after their popularity last year at the church.

On Sunday, rejoice will begin with the Revel Service, which is called ‘Songs of Praise.’ The service will be read in both Cornish and English.

At 5pm traditional Cornish tea will be served. This includes a pasty, of course, but also saffron cake, splits with jam, cream and junket too, all washed down with a cup of tea.

After a slight breather at 7pm the variety concert begins. This includes a ‘Proper Cornish’ choir, Tereba Nessa and Cornish storyteller Moe Keast who is said to have all in stitches.

Money raised will go to the windows restoration fund.

You can pay for the concerts on the door or ring either of the numbers to book. Both concerts are £10 or £6 each while Cornish cream teas do have to be booked in advance.
