THREE Chinook helicopters from RAF Odiham are expected to return home after the Nepalese government said they are not needed to assist with the earthquake relief effort.
Reports coming out of Nepal indicate a fear that the double rotor aircraft could damage already weakened buildings.
Other sources have suggested that the decision has been influenced by China which is reluctant to have British aircraft flying close to its border.
