YOUNG carers from Holsworthy and surrounding areas are continuing to enjoy their after school club thanks to support from the Holsworthy Rotary Club.
The monthly sessions, held at Holsworthy Youth Centre, are run by Carewise, an organisation based in Bideford that offers support to young carers living in Torridge and North Devon.
The sessions offer the young people respite from their caring role, chances to make friends and socialise with other young carers and opportunities to chat to support workers.
On presenting the cheque for £300, Mr Geoffrey Cusick, president of Holsworthy Rotary, said: “Holsworthy Rotary Club are pleased to continue with its support of local young carers.”
Christine Stalley is the chair of the youth service committee for the Rotary and volunteers at the sessions adding another valuable contribution to the project.
Young carer support worker, Jim Harvey, said: “Carewise would like to thank the Rotarians for their support allowing a crucial respite service to continue for local young carers, many of whom are rurally isolated.”
