A HOLSWORTHY man has been recognised for his 50 years' service to the Church.
Charles Cornish was blessed on December 11 in 1964 and licensed by the former Bishop of Exeter, Robert Mortimer at Truro Cathedral, since then he has been largely involved in the church community and actively helps at the Church of St Peter and St Paul.
Mr Cornish, who has seen seven rectors come and go, said: "It is a nice achievement. I had a nice letter of congratulations from the Bishop of Crediton and last year I received a new stole because I had wore the other one out, this is my third now.
"It is a good challenge at my age and it's worthwhile. It is nice to be able to cheer someone up along the way when you visit people who are sick."
