On Sunday, five members of King Arthur Lodge, Tintagel, accompanied by friends, took part in a sponsored cycle ride from Tintagel to Truro. The ride, in aid of the HeartSWell Lodge at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, raised over £2,000. One of the team, Dr Richard White, had heart surgery in Derriford last September and his wife was able to stay at the HeartSWell Lodge and be close to the hospital. The fundraising was undertaken by way of thanks to the Derriford Cardiac Surgery unit, and, to celebrate one year of good health. The route took the riders through Trebarwith to St Teath and along the Allen Valley, then on to Fraddon and down the valley road through Trelissick into Truro. The weather was kind to the riders with only a headwind to contend with.
