A WHITSTONE lady who suffers from an illness which has left her wheelchair bound, completed an abseiling challenge on Monday, August 15, which she says is a "wish come true."

Tish Lake is 63-years-old and has endured a serious illness for most of her life, which has meant her movement is restricted to a wheelchair. This hasn't stopped her from seeking an adventure and recently completed a 140ft abseil in aid of charity.

The abseil took place with two instructors from Adventure International (Bude) at Northcott Mouth for two charities close to Tish's heart — Exercising for Mobility and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

She was also supported by the Northcott Mouth duty lifeguard; her husband John; son Andrew; friends from Whitstone as well as Janet and Matt from Exercising for Mobility.

The Exercising for Mobility charity is local to the Bude area and provides exercise sessions for those with long-term ailments or illnesses. The Cornwall Air Ambulance is, of course, well known and respected, but still has to rely on donations to maintain such a vital service.

If you would like to support Tish, make cheques payable to 'Exercising Mobility' and take them to the Exercise for Mobility exercise sessions held in the Parkhouse Centre on Monday mornings between 10am and midday or Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4.30pm.

Tish commented: "I've always wanted to do that, and now I have, it's a wish come true
