FOUR ladies from Launceston’s Santander branch spent more than seven hours cycling from the town to Penzance and back recently.

While Linda Gliddon (branch manager), Julia Warne, Kristina Locke and Kimberley Nelmes (pictured) didn’t actually leave the PL15 postcode, they took it in turn to cycle the 138 miles on a static bike to raise money for the bank’s chosen charities for the year — Barnardo’s and Age UK.

Linda was also due to head to Bristol to take part in It’s a Knockout.

With the ladies taking it in turn while still running the bank, Linda admits that she was delighted with how it went.

She said: “I’m amazed by the response we’ve had. We started at 9am and went on for most of the day. I’d like to thank the people of Launceston for raising nearly £300.”

The bank has been holding a book sale inside, with people encouraged to come and buy and sell. All proceeds will go to Barnardo’s and Age UK.
