THERE was reason to celebrate at Pendruccombe Residential Home in Launceston recently as resident Elsie Jago celebrated her 100th birthday.
Not originally from Launceston, Elsie, born on June 21, 1919, made her way to Cornwall first by living in Falmouth. After her marriage, she moved to Bodmin, from which she then came to Launceston in the sixties.
Her daughter, Jenny Buswell, from Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, attended a special birthday party with her husband Graham, at Pendruccombe on Friday, June 21 to celebrate the occasion of Elsie’s milestone birthday.
Friends and family came from all over to celebrate with her, along with the mayor of Launceston, Dave Gordon, with a special buffet provided by the residential home.
Jenny said: “It was absolutely brilliant, she had a lovely day. It was very nice and Pendruccombe really put on a marvellous day for her. There were banners, balloons and a buffet, which everybody enjoyed. She always said that she’d like to live to 100, and she’s done it!”
Elsie received lots of birthday wishes in cards, also receiving the Queen’s telegram to congratulate her on the occasion.
Jenny added: “She had a lovely day. You absolutely couldn’t ask for a better care home, they look after her so well, and they have treated us really well too.”
Happy birthday, Elsie!
