AN encouraging number of people from the farming community and churches in North Cornwall gathered at Hallworthy Market for the annual harvest songs of praise on Friday evening.
Everyone present was welcomed by the Rev Bryan Ede, who in turn welcomed St Gennys Silver Band to lead the singing of familiar harvest hymns.
Prayers were led by Brian Parkman and the Rev Michael Parsons, with lessons being read by the Rev Doreen Sparey-Delacassa and Mrs Joyce Brown.
The guest speaker for the evening was the Rev Roger Greene, the rural life officer for the Cornwall Methodist District. An offering was taken during the service for charity, HeartSWell.
Those present were invited to share in refreshments in the market café prior to the harvest auction in the Wilsey Down Hotel, which was arranged by the licensee, Rick Cobbledick and his staff.
Patrick Dennis from Kivells Auctioneers led the brisk bidding for a range of harvest gifts.
The sale of goods, the service collection and the proceeds of a raffle raised £1,045 for HeartSWell.
Mrs Brown offered a vote of thanks on behalf of the Camelford HeartSWell committee.
