THE Cornwall Community Foundation, based at Lawhitton, has launched a local appeal
in response to the Coronavirus threat.
The ‘Cornwall Coronavirus Emergency Appeal’ has been launched to enable people to donate, safe in the knowledge that their donation will be used to help Cornish people feed their families and remain healthy during the Coronavirus crisis.
The Coronavirus outbreak is putting immense pressure on foodbanks and other small, frontline community groups supporting people most in need in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Demand is increasing as a result of redundancies and isolation from usual support networks. At the same time, food donations have reduced due to stockpiling and local charities cannot get out in their communities to do their usual fund raising.
All money raised by the Cornwall Community Foundation will be spent in Cornwall, delivering grants directly to small charities and community groups that help vulnerable, isolated and elderly people.
The Cornwall Community Foundation has been supporting these grassroots organisations for many years and know that they are best placed to help those in need in their communities.
Local charities and community organisations can also now apply for funding from the emergency fund on the foundation’s website. Grants range from £500 to £3,000 to support projects reaching out to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
In addition to the Cornwall Emergency Coronavirus Appeal, the National Emergencies Trust (NET) has launched an appeal to raise funds to help local charities support those individuals suffering hardship as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. Cornwall Community Foundation will be distributing NET funding in Cornwall to ensure it gets to those who need it most.
