THE? old Holsworthy Showground site, which was recently acquired by Catesby Property Group after winning an appeal against Torridge District Council, has now been purchased by Redrow Homes.

Redrow have now unveiled their plans, similar to that of Catesby's, however Catesby now have nothing to do with the site.

A total of 141 homes from Redrow's New Heritage Collection are proposed for  the 15 acre site — near Trewyn Road — alongside a new football pitch, changing rooms and a skate park.

Redrow will also be improving access to the existing cricket and bowls clubs as well as providing car park on the land for both clubs.

In addition, and as part of the planning agreement, the housebuilder will be carrying out improvements to Trewyn Road and also contributing an extra £100,000 towards local amenities, including upgrades to Stanhope Park.

Lee Hawker, land director for Redrow Homes (South West), said: "We are delighted to have acquired this site and look forward to providing a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes to suit buyers on every stage of the property ladder.

"Selected from our popular New Heritage Collection, they will combine traditional looking exteriors with an 'Arts and Crafts' influence with family friendly lay-outs and bright, modern interiors."

He added: "The leisure facilities will be a fantastic addition to the development, providing activities for local people and new residents. We are hoping to start work on site early next year, subject to reserved matters planning consent."

The reserved matters planning application is due to be submitted to Torridge District Council Planning Department in September.
