CHILDREN from Years 1-6 from St Josephs School enjoyed a house enrichment day at Widemouth Bay on July 4.

The children were grouped in school houses in order to mix across year groups, and they then took part in an amazing carousel of activities that saw them working together and supporting one another. These included litter picking, sand art, castle building and Kwik cricket.

Each of the activities was designed to foster a sense of teamwork, collaboration and of bringing every member of the Junior School together. It was a wonderful day and the school was blessed with ideal weather. All of the children enjoyed taking part in activities, and even had a talk about beach safety from the RNLI. Everyone was then treated to a well-earned ice cream! The day was superbly planned by Mrs Tamsin Worth, whose first class organisation and military precision enabled the day to be the success it was.

Similar house activity days are planned for the next academic year. It proved to be a wonderful end to a very busy school year. Headteacher Mr Oliver Scott said: “I was so pleased to see the children working together, and watching Year 6 pupils helping those in younger years showed the teamwork and leadership we value so highly here at St. Joseph’s. All staff were outstanding, and my thanks to every one of them for such a fantastic day. Though next year, I must remember sun cream for my own head!”
