PORT Isaac carnival was warmly welcomed back by crowds who lined the streets to see the procession on Saturday, September 2.
After taking a break last year it was back with a new committee behind it.
The carnival started at lunchtime, with a Punch and Judy Show, magic show, face painting and a barbecue at the playing fields.
There was also the annual tug of war competition, held in memory of Nick Bunt, a well-known local man, with teams headed by his two children, Sue and Steve.
This year, Steve’s team were the winners and they were presented with the trophy by Sue.
The procession kicked off from the playing fields and went down through the village, watched by visitors and locals alike, before returning to the starting point.
Here, everyone was entertained by the band, The Retrobates. There was also a pirate ship themed bar.
Alice Stratton, who is part of the carnival committee, was delighted with how this year’s carnival went.
“Everyone made a fantastic effort with the floats. We were totally blown away. It was wonderful, there were lots of smiling faces.
“The carnival was very well supported, and we hope to make it bigger next year. It’s the end of a long season, everyone’e worked hard and it’s good to let your hair down.”
