At around 1.30am on Saturday, March 8, a silver Ford Focus was in collision with the BT telephone box and the council bus shelter at Clease Road, Camelford. Mayor of Camelford, Cllr Brian Lush, said it was fortunate that the incident took place in the early hours of the morning and not when people were walking in the area. The bus shelter was demolished and workmen were on the scene clearing the area. Cllr Lush said it would be referred to the council's insurers, but a new bus shelter is expected to cost in the region of £3,000. It will be around six weeks at least before a new shelter is in place. The police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them on 08452 777444, quoting log reference number 122/March 8.
