Despite 16 Launceston Seniors being at Bude for a match, 60 members played in the competition on Tuesday, March 17.

In ideal conditions and with some players having generous handicaps assigned by the Seniors' Captain for Tuesday competitions only, very good results were obtained.

The format of 1 on the par 3s, 2 on the par 4s and 3 on the par 5s gave a par result of 68, all the prize winners were well in excess of this.

John Russell, taking charge with both Captain and Vice-Captain absent, caused amusement by inadvertently announcing the results in random order. He also mentioned that too many people were getting 2s and soon the Captain will have no balls left. Well done John for stepping into the breach no doubt the situation will reoccur when matches again fall on a Tuesday.

Results: 1st,, John Highman, Brian Johns, Ray Williams 84; 2nd, Mike Shellswell, John Haywood, "Wild Card" 83; 3rd, Steve Hammond, Peter Collier, Steve Lawrence 80; 4th, Mel Philps, Dave Swanson, David Napier 79; 5th, Pat Hayne, Charles Simpkin, Peter Holland 78.

The Seniors team at Bude also enjoyed the good weather but not the match result with a convincing win by Bude by 6 to 2. Only Paul Roach with Robert Loughran and Brian Alford with Colin Butler won their matches and Colin was NTP for the Launceston team.

Captain Robin not known for his joke repertoire had to resort to borrowing one from Bude, that is certainly a first for Launceston Seniors, he will have to pick someone for this duty next time instead of for their golf.

Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Terry Swords lost 2&1; Brian Alford & Colin Butler won 5&4; Derek Davey & Tim Johnson lost 3&2; Derek Ratcliffe & Ken Rogers lost 2&1; Mike Gee & Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) lost 2&1; John Mullins & Neville lost 5&4; Paul Roach & Robert Loughran won 3&1; Graham Nevitte & Richard Dudley lost 4&3.
