THERE was much 'yo-ho-hoing' at The Castle, Bude and St Stephens Children's Centre when Captain Jack Sparrow came a visiting on Wednesday, February 15.
He visited Bude with the Learning Officer at Cornwall Record Office Chloe Phillips, who had arranged a family learning event loosely based around a document in the Cornwall Records Office collection listing the treasure of Avery the Pirate.
Full to capacity, the workshop began with the moment everyone had all been waiting for — the entrance of 'Captain Jack Sparrow'.
With a wink and a swagger, Captain Jack inducted them into the world of piracy, then left them in the capable hands of 'Cutthroat Clo', his 'lieutenant' on the high seas who told the young pirates the story of daring Avery, his exploits and his treasure trove plundered from other ships.
