A concert was recently held at Bratton Clovelly organised by Mrs Brenda Harris, and the branch chairman Ray Shaddick was delighted to receive a cheque for £800.
Mrs Taylor kindly organised a cream tea at Bangors, Poundstock, which amounted to a excellent result of £804.
At Germansweek they celebrated 50 years of holding their annual bazaar and proceeds were for Cancer Research UK, in particular breast cancer.
Mrs Mary Rogers has been involved with this event for a number of years. Ray attended the event with Friends from Bude, and cut the celebration cake. The event was an outstanding success for such a small community when £1,808 was raised.
In September at Bude, Adventure International held a dance by kind permission of Mr Keith Marshall. It was a pleasant and successful evening and everyone was entertained by Mr Derek Hignett, and a duo from Holsworthy 'Double Ambition.'
Ray said: "Both were excellent with the music to suit everyone, and our thanks go to them for a most enjoyable evening. The event raised £337.46."
Last weekend the branch held their Annual Charity Lunch at Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club when 100 people sat down to an excellent lunch. This event is always extremely popular and all the tickets were sold in a day and a half, and organisers were sorry that they could not accommodate all their loyal supporters, as it was a question of first come first served policy.
Branch members were extremely fortunate in having their Area Volunteer Manager Mrs Sylvia Arlett attend, and she gave an update of where the money was being spent, the progress being made, and the hospitals in the South West doing clinical trials.
This event raised £457. Ray Shaddick welcomed everyone and spoke of the tremendous support of Bude, Stratton & District including Holsworthy and thanked those who kindly donated in memoriam.
He thanked the local businesses who throughout the year had also been very supportive, and he also thanked the Bude and Stratton Post for their reports and publicity, also BBC Radio Cornwall, and 'Post' photographer Paul Hamlyn.
He continued by saying that through the generosity of those present, and everyone in the Bude Stratton and District this year, he was delighted to present a cheque for £30,000.
