TORRIDGE District Councillors for Holsworthy, Michael Footitt and Howard Ratledge have donated £200 from their Councillor Community Grant allowances to the Bude Canal Trust Partnership. The money will be used towards the ongoing work to preserve the heritage site which has many architectural features of bridges and culverts as well as wildlife habitats, including two nature reserves. Work on the canal, which runs from Bude to Holsworthy, started almost 200 years ago and is now promoted by the Canal Trust.
