Re: Letter on planning applications (the 'Post', April 30).

I was also surprised that the new Cornwall Council has only decided to show planning applications for Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas, however you can see planning applications on Cornwall Council's website. That is, of course, if you have a computer with access to the internet, and considering the number of slightly older folk in Cornwall I am sure that there are many people who are not computer literate.

But MP Dan Rogerson states that the move to a single council for Cornwall will save over £15 million a year with improved support for the elderly; does this mean that all pensioner families in Cornwall will get free laptops and concessionary rates for computer training?

However, if anyone (with a computer and access to the internet) wishes to look at the full planning applications for the North Cornwall District Council area they can by entering the following link into their web browser: http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=15927">http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=15927. Then enter their post code and district, we are now East 1, the page will change, below quick links click 'Planning Registers', the page changes again and click 'Weekly List', in the centre of the page you are able to scroll down 12 weekly lists, select the week and click search.

It is a very slow website so be patient, eventually you will have a list of the planning applications for the selected week and you can scroll down to see the various applications and you can even see the plans for a particular application but that takes a few more clicks and oddly enough takes one back to the NCDC web pages! As I said before, the website is very slow, you'll need to set aside at least half an hour.
