TOP TOWN Memory Café Camelford held a tea party on Wednesday, June 8, at Camelford Hall to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday party and the Carers Week.

Predominantly dressed up in red, blue and white (the colours of the Union Jack), 22 people made their way to the Town Hall to enjoy a feast of food, including sandwiches, quiches, cakes and a selection of desserts.

Following that, they also took part in a number of games before going on to a quiz, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

There was a more poignant side to the day though apart from the Queen’s birthday as the Carers Week was also ongoing.

During the day there was an information stand set up, so that people could be made aware of the incredible challenges and work people have to face for their loved ones and friends.

The members were also made aware, if they weren’t already, about Purple Angel, a global group campaigning about the dangers of dementia by co-founder Jane Moore who still lives in Camelford.

The memory café provides important support and social friendship to people with memory loss and for those who care for them.

They meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at Camelford Hall from 1pm to 3pm.
