CORNWALL Voluntary Sector Forum is the voice of voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The forum’s aim is to work with others to create a thriving and effective voluntary sector.
Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum is working in partnership with the Old Bank, Camelford, to bring together organisations and individuals that are already doing excellent work in the local community.
The team behind the forum have said: “We know that by working together we stand a better chance of achieving and sustaining the changes we all seek. We believe that grassroots initiatives always stand a greater chance of making an impact than top-down campaigns imposed by others.
“We hope that by helping to bring you together to exchange ideas and information we can enhance social action to the benefit of your local area. You know the strengths and assets of your community better than we do, and you understand its problems too.”
The forum’s aim is to encourage and facilitate this social action in Camelford to benefit the local area. The people of the town know the strengths and assets of the area better than they do, so the forum is inviting the public to a workshop on October 2 at Camelford Hall, where they will work with them to explore these important issues and investigate solutions.
Their aim is to grow local capacity to act and work with local people as equals. Anyone who carries out voluntary work or is thinking about becoming a volunteer in the Camelford area is welcome to attend, together with public sector staff, faith groups and other interested organisations and individuals.
This workshop will work with people to explore the issues that are important to them and investigate solutions. The outcomes of this workshop will feed into discussions the forum is having with the Old Bank,. Also working groups will be set up to consider what further help may be available, such as funding and training for Camelford.
The event will run from 11.30am to 4.30pm and there will be the opportunity to network over a free lunch. Go to www.cornwallvsf.org/event/shaping-my-community-camelford/ to book tickets
