CONSERVATION Day birdwatch walks were held at Camelford on Wednesday, June 1, and were well attended.
Enfield Park proved to be a real haven of peace for the morning walk and the evening walk, led by local birdwatcher Andy Bond.
The event was organised by Claire Hewlett of Camelford Town Council’s events team.
She said: “The park is a fabulous habitat, and a lot of people don’t even realise how far back the park goes.”
The walks took place during Camelford’s fun week. Mr Bond said: “The town council we have got at the moment are amazing, they have got to take so much credit for this — it’s been an amazing week.
“The park is a haven and a real jewel in the crown for Camelford.”
The birdwatch walk in the evening was followed by a bat walk, which was also well supported. Led by Sarah Stevens of the Cornwall Bat Group, the group used bat detectors and established there are two species of bats in the park — the common pipistrelle and Daubenton’s.
The town council events team is seeking more members and would welcome those interested to get in touch with Claire Hewlett on 01840 213232, Kirsty Ferguson via 01840 212880, email [email protected], or find the Camelford Events Working Group page on Facebook.
