CAMELFORD Young Farmers’ Club recently held their annual general meeting at the Poldark Inn, Delabole.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, September 21, saw a good turnout of members, advisory and family and friends. Outgoing chairman, Becky Cornelius, and outgoing secretary, Heather Harper, gave away a total of £4,000 to the Happy Hospital Children Fund, Derriford Hospital, and Cancer Research UK. The total was split equally, meaning each charity received £2,000.
The money was raised from the club’s annual whist drive, wine and wisdom event, bingo, tractor run, duck race and, of course, the annual dung run.
The club has expressed thanks to everyone who brought dung, ducks or supported the events.
The club has also had a very successful year winning the overall cup at the Royal Cornwall Show, two cups at the county YFC rally and tug of war. The club has represented Cornwall twice this year in tug of war and junior member of the year. The club has also contributed to some community work this year in Camelford.
For anyone wishing for the club to help in the community in any way, they are encouraged to get in contact.
