CAMELFORD Police are settling into their new home, following a station relocation on Monday.
The new office will not be open to members of the public but the force has assured residents that current staffing levels and the service to the public will be maintained.
News of the move came last year after the announcement that Devon and Cornwall Police were faced with having to make savings of £44 million over the next four years as part of the government's Comprehensive Spending Review.
The annual running costs for Camelford Police Station was £11,000 whereas it is anticipated the new office will cost £4,000 a year.
In addition the force will recoup the revenue from the sale of the police station building and land to the rear.
The news hasn't pleased all local residents however, as Shirley Flanders said: "This is a very sad day in Camelford and the area."
But Superintendent Julie Whitmarsh said when she announced the news: "I would like to stress that this isn't the case of the police reducing our service to the people of Camelford, but it is purely a logistical move. Our neighbourhood and response teams will be available just as before.
