IT IS NOW fewer than nine months until Camelford hosts the 2012 Cornish Gorsedd, writes Suzanne Cleave.
The event has been described as an opportunity for Camelford to "put itself in the shop window."
The first meeting of the Local Organising Committee was held at the council offices, College Road, Camelford, on Monday evening.
A good number of people attended, along with representatives of the Gorsedd — Maureen Fuller, the Deputy Grand Bard, and Mike Millard (Gorsedd Marshall).
In addition, apologies were received from representatives of other organisations in the town.
The Mayor of Camelford, Rob Rotchell, who chaired the meeting, explained that the town council was approached about 18 months ago with regard to the town hosting the next Gorsedd.
"It's not been held in Camelford before so we were quite proud to be able to host it and accepted straight away. Now the hard work begins."
