PREPARATIONS for this year’s Holsworthy Carnival are now well underway with all the usual things such as road closures now in hand.
The carnival will take place on November 18. People are now invited to apply to be carnival royalty. The ‘Carnival Queen’ and ‘Fairy Queen’ should both line in the catchment area for Holsworthy Community College and Holsworthy Primary School — though it is not required that they actually attend either of those schools.
The Fairy Queen should be between four and 11-years-old, and the Carnival Queen should be 12-years-old or older. There is no upper age limit for the role of Carnival Queen and applications are invited from girls and women of any age.
Holsworthy and District Lions will provide the floats to be used on the night — as well as a donation to go towards the coasts of decorating the float and the Queens themselves.
Anybody interested is asked email [email protected] or via the Holsworthy and District Lions Facebook page.
The carnival committee is made up of both members and non-members of Holsworthy and District Lions and is open to anybody who has a few hours to spare and would like to be involved in the organisation of this year’s event.
The next meeting of the committee will take place in the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy on September 22, at 8pm. All are welcome.
