DURING the show day, the cadets from the Holsworthy Detachment of Devon ACF supervised gates and the main arena as well as providing eyes on the ground and signals support for the organisers.
The cadets directed the 800 welly wangers into the main arena, helping to make the registration and counting procedure run smoothly before the big event.
The next day the cadets returned to carry out a full litter sweep of all the car parks and show fields ensuring no litter was left that could harm livestock, wildlife or the environment.
Speaking after the event, Detachment Commander Lt Jim Harvey said: “The cadets have worked hard and enjoyed not only supporting the event but being part of the world record attempt.”
Getting involved in community events is just one of many training opportunities available to young people through membership of the ACF. Holsworthy ACF is welcoming new recruits (from 12 years of age) at Holsworthy Community College from 6.50pm on Monday (September 3).
