CORNWALL Council has refused planning permission for the construction of up to 30 age restricted bungalows in Launceston for people aged 55 and over.
The plans sought permission for the dwellings, warden’s office/accommodation, community facilities and open space on land south of Cedar Grange, St Marys Road, St Stephens.
The planning officer said: “The site would not provide a suitable location for the proposed development of C3 sheltered housing when considered against the housing policies of the CLP (Cornwall Local Plan).
“The application site is not a proposed allocated site for development. The residents of the development are likely to have a high level of reliance upon private vehicles to which considerable weight is attached in assessing the sustainability of the proposal and there would be landscape harm.”
The town council had also objected to the planning application, ‘due to access and egress issues, highways concerns and that the proposals do not form part of the designated Local Plan’.
