The roundabout was in dire need of weeding, pruning, strimming and tidying, but more than anything, it needed repairing.
A few weeks ago a huge truck with double back wheels took a detour off the main road, apparently to avoid temporary traffic lights, cutting deep ruts into the roundabout surface and displacing chippings, matting and planting. It was a sorry mess that greeted the group, meaning several hours of tough digging, reshaping, replanting and TLC was required.
Spokesperson Jinny Adams said: “A huge thank you goes out to Annie Creo, Susie Taylor, Tracey Robinson for grafting so hard, Sue Read for calling up in support, David for strimming the centre section and planting help and Vicky Ball and Tim and Glynis Freeman for donating Verbena plants to replace those lost in the lorry crush!
“Everyone involved every time we do this is a volunteer and everything we use on site is donated so ‘thank you, thank you’ for your support in making Bude better.
“We like to do our bit along with many others in our special community.”
