ARIA Resorts has just announced a £1,000 sponsorship of professional Bude surfer and previous-employee of one of its Cornish resorts, Emily Currie.?

Emily, aged 24, grew up in Bude where she still resides, close to the ocean in which she hones her exceptional surfing skills in her free time alongside studying Sport and Exercise Science at Plymouth Marjon University. ?

Emily’s relationship with Aria Resorts harks back to 2020 when she worked at Bude Holiday Resort for the summer. It was here that she befriended sales manager, Lee Lewis who saw the opportunity to sponsor Emily on a corporate level.?

Emily started surfing at the tender age of 12 and has naturally progressed, winning an array of impressive titles, competing in both shortboard and longboard events, and even representing Great Britain at the age of 15 in the ISA World Junior Championships. This year, she was truly stoked to have become Boardmasters’ Longboard Open Woman’s Champion having competed there for a decade against some of the world’s best surfers.?

Aria Resorts’ sales manager, Mr Lewis said: “We are delighted to sponsor and support Emily. She is an exceptional sportsperson who is absolutely smashing it at the moment in the surfing world. Aria Resorts has a number of resorts across surf hotspots such as Bude, Perranporth and Newquay, as well as the Isle of Wight, meaning that there are some natural parallels, making this partnership a really great fit. Emily’s unwavering dedication and determination to keep improving and honing her craft also aligns with our philosophy to be the very best in the industry. We are all so proud of what she has achieved and wish her all the best with her upcoming competitions.”

Emily said: “I am really grateful to Aria Resorts for sponsoring me. My surfing takes me all over the world but Cornwall is where my heart is and where my love of surfing was ignited. The sponsorship money will allow me to travel for competitions throughout the rest of this year which will be so helpful as it can get expensive.”
