THE Bude Sea Pool HUB is now officially open for business, following a grand opening.
Appropriately, local boy Samuel Jennings officially cut the ribbon on Sunday, September 25, opening the HUB for the community. Sam raised £8,600 for the Friends of Bude Sea Pool charity last year by cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
Bude Sea Pool HUB is the result of months’ of grant applications and fundraising events.
Apart from the much needed storage space, the HUB will be available for the community, schools and various activity groups to use for numerous activities.
The HUB features two changing rooms, space for pool staff to use for data collection and selling merchandise to raise money, as well as space for local groups such as the Scouts, art classes and school geography groups. The HUB is available for groups to book, and bookings are already coming in from groups, including the Amateur Swimming Association Coaching Team.
Two successful grant applications of £5,000 each from BBC Radio Cornwall and Engage Mutual Insurance set the ball rolling and has made things possible, of which the Sea Pool is extremely grateful for.
Thanks were also extended to all the businesses that helped.
