A team of local runners, who are members of the running team Bude Rats, recently entered the Royal Marines Tactical Commando Challenge. This is a new event which followed the usual October Mud Challenge, which is held in Bicton Arena every October. The event involved a 10km race which consisted of a series of running, memory and observation tasks, as well as grenade throwing and stretcher carrying — what a laugh! The six females were shocked to hear that out of the 67 team entries they had come first out of the females. Special thanks were expressed to Kelvin Turner and Bridget Funnell for all their support with training and the organisation of Bude Rats.
