BUDE once again enjoyed success by receiving the majority of the public vote in the prestigious British Travel Awards.
Mark Hibbard, tourism officer and a director of Bude Area Tourist Board, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted with this award. All the vision and local investment that is going into the Bude area, creating new places to eat, places to stay and exciting things to do for visitors to Bude, is clearly appealing to day visitors and holiday visitors alike.
“The fact that this award is based on real votes by real people, makes it even more special. Consider the fact that any UK coastal town could be voted for, but the majority voted for Bude. That’s pretty special!
“Earlier in the month, the Tourist Information Centre scooped another gold award in the Cornwall Tourism Awards for the Best Tourism Information Service, and has been shortlisted for the South West Tourism Awards in February 2017.
“Bude Area Tourist Board operates the Bude Tourist Information Centre and VisitBude website. We’re proud to represent many tourism businesses, working together to provide a thriving and continually improving visitor destination — we look forward to welcoming even more visitors in 2017!”
British Travel Awards’ chief executive, Lorraine Barnes Burton, said: “Competition was fierce this year, with more companies entering the competition than ever before, but ultimately it is the travelling public who decide the winners by voting for the travel companies they consider the best in the business.
“The British Travel Awards is the largest awards programme in the UK, and to win is truly an accolade and testament to the great products and services travel companies offer to their customers.”
