BUDE'S Mayor is backing an initiative to re-establish essential links with RAF St Mawgan.

The Station Commander, Wing Commander Graham 'Sheds' House hosted an afternoon with Mayors from across Cornwall, with the intent to encourage mutual support and integration between local communities and RAF St Mawgan.

Despite near closure in 2009, Wing Commander House explained that RAF St Mawgan is now safe with a funding line for the next 25 years; is open for business, and is eager to re-establish essential links with the local community.

Wing Commander House said: "Over the last two years our focus has been on re-establishing the station and our links with local community have suffered — however, we now look forward to re-engagement, and a long and fruitful working relationship. We look to a future where we all work together and lead essential change — rather than being led by change."
