Bude girl, Georgina Lashbrook, launches her first solo album called 'Witches' on Halloween.
Georgie, a talented musician who plays a variety of instruments and writes her own songs is now based in Leeds. Growing up in Bude, she sang and danced with the various amateur dramatic societies and played the leading role in school productions at Budehaven Community School.
At music college in Wakefield she played in a band called The Research which was signed up by EMI on a five year contract. This resulted in six single releases and two albums with visits to America and tours of Europe and the UK.
Georgie has now left the band to perform her own music under the name 'The State Of Georgia.' Witches was recorded at Din Studio in London with Julian Simmons who has recorded with the likes of the Guillemots, and Greenmount Studio in Leeds, with Lee Smith from the band Middleman and Jamie Lockhart from the band Mi Mye, both old university friends.
Georgie has written all the songs herself and plays piano, drums, bass and saxophone as well as singing. Other musicians on the album include Grangerboy, a Ministry of Sound artist and Gary Stewart, a Scottish singer/song writer.
