BUDE'S Zoeftig Limited are delighted to announce that they've not only won a 2009 Queen's Award for Enterprise, but have have also been shortlisted for a Cornwall Business Award.
Every year, Queen's Awards for Enterprise are made to a few carefully-chosen, high-performing companies for their outstanding contributions to innovation, sustainable development or international trade.
It's Zoeftig's export achievements which have have been recognised, by both the Queen's and the Cornwall Business Awards.
Zoeftig, based in Bude, design and manufacture contract furniture for passenger terminals, waiting areas, hospitality and leisure venues and offices.
In announcing the Queen's Award, the judges note the company's extraordinary success in:
"... increasing its overseas sales by 72 per cent to almost £3 million per annum and selling over 75 per cent of its furniture overseas. It deploys an impressive export operation, with both direct sales vigorously pursued, and sales through overseas offices and agents.
"An extensive programme of overseas visits, attendance at trade fairs, participation in trade missions, and a multi language website all contributed to the company's outstanding success."
Such is the continuing strength of Zoeftig's performance, however, that even these impressive figures have since been overshadowed; overseas sales now amount to almost £4 million, with exports accounting for 90 per cent of sales.
News of both awards comes as Zoeftig celebrate the highly successful launch of groundbreaking new product at March's PTX 09 trade show, and just as they learn, too, of a substantial new contract being awarded to supply terminal seating at Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport. Paul Williams, Zoeftig's CEO and Commercial Director, says:
"This is a huge honour; we're absolutely thrilled to receive the Queen's Award and to be shortlisted for a Cornwall Business Award.
"Zoeftig's 40 years old this year, but we've made such fantastic progress in the last three or so that it feels like we're at the start of something new and exciting. The Queen's Award and the CBA shortlisting recognise the hard work of the team that's made all that progress possible."
