Peg and Doug Pearce of Bude celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 5. Doug is 96 and Peg is 94, and they were married in Swindon, Wiltshire, in 1938, just before Doug went off to war. Despite his war service they managed to produce two sons, Andrew in 1943 and Robin in 1944. They lived in Swindon until they retired to Box, a village in Wiltshire. Seven years ago they moved down to Bude where their son Robin lives. The sea air and good Cornish food has kept them healthy ever since.
