THE Bude Coastguard Search and Rescue Team expressed its pride that one of its members was chosen to represent HM Coastguard at the Cenotaph Remembrance service and parade in Whitehall.

Jeremy Thomson (pictured) was part of the 2016 parade team, made up of 12 members from all areas of the Coastguard and four are ex-military, including Jeremy, who was in the Army for 23 years.

The parade team, who were with the Royal Navy as part of the guard at the Cenotaph, had to undergo two days of rehearsals at the Coastguard training centre in Gosport. They walked the route in London on Saturday, and first thing Sunday morning were inspected at Wellington Barracks.

At the Cenotaph they fell in on the left hand side with the Royal Navy contingent, and the Army fell in on the other side.

Jeremy said: “The Queen was stood right in front of us, and the old boys marched pastfor about two hours. It was an awesome sight.”

Back home, the rest of Bude Coastguard Rescue Team marched from 11am on Remembrance Sunday morning, beginning by the bus shelter on the Strand in Bude.
