BUDE Choral Society will be helping everyone to get into the Christmas spirit with a performance of John Rutter’s ‘Mass of the Children’ and ‘When Icicles hang’, as well as Bob Chilcott’s delightful ‘A Little Jazz Mass’ and his exciting advent carol, ‘Nova! Nova!’
The concert features the Mini Minstrels and their first performance of ‘The Lord’s Prayer in Cornish’, composed by Zillah Myers.
The concert will take place on Saturday, November 26 at 7.30pm in Bude Methodist Church, and is conducted by their music director, John Hobbs. The choir will be joined by soloists from Exeter and North Devon, and accompanied on the piano by David Robinson, David Coles on double bass, Susan Northrop, flautist, and Keiran Wint on drums and percussion — a wealth of talent from the local area.
On this occasion, the choir will be raising much needed funds for the Children’s Hospice South West, St Austell.
Bude Choral Society concerts are always enjoyable social occasions, and are getting more and more popular as its reputation as the best amateur choir in the area increases and its membership and following grows.
Tickets, including refreshments, are £8, with schoolchildren going free. They are available to purchase from Bude Tourist Information Centre, Ark Angel bookshop or choir members, or on the door on the night if there are any left.
