Members of Bude Beaver Scouts recently took part in a Beaver sleepover at Bude Scout Hut. Saturday afternoon was spent at Crooklets Beach and the group stopped off for an ice cream on the way back to the hut. They did some craft making at the hut and were taught some circus skills by Wez Swain. After a barbecue tea they had a campfire where they sang songs and Wez entertained them with juggling and fire poi. Sunday morning Margaret Dingle from the Rotary Club came along to give a talk about Shelter Box. The Beavers got to see what goes into a Shelter Box and one of their demo tents was put up. Before Margaret left, a donation of £138.60 was handed over to her which the Beavers had collected by filling smartie tubes with 20 pences. This, for some of the beavers, was their first Beaver Sleepover and also their first night away from their parents. Everyone enjoyed the weekend and they all got sent home with a badge, certificate and goodie bag. A spokesman said: "We're all very much looking forward to our next sleepover."
