PRESIDENT Ann Reece-Pinchin welcomed the Bowls Cornwall President Christine Hore and her mother Doreen Bilkey, and 42 members and guests to the 79th Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening of Bude Bowling Club which was held at the Tree Inn. The Bowlers' Grace was sung, led by Trevor House.
After the meal Secretary Bill Dixon proposed the Loyal Toast. President Ann said how much the Club appreciated BC President Christine and her mother Doreen, who is a Past President of the CCWBA attending our Dinner. She went on to congratulate members for the season's successes. She went on to highlight various events during the year including President's Day which had been such a success and the annual tour to Torquay, thanking all those who made it such a success. She thanked the Tree Inn and their staff for laying on an excellent meal. She went on to say how busy Christine had been this year and what a successful year it had been for the first year of Bowls Cornwall and how enthusiastically Christine had supported all the teams.
She then proposed the toast to the Bowls Cornwall and President Christine.In response BC President Christine said that she had been delighted by her invitation to attend and continued by speaking of how much she had enjoyed her year as the President. She congratulated all those who had reached County Quarter Finals this year and Ann on having been given a Bowls England game. Christine went on to speak about the unification of the men's and ladies' County Associations which was working very well. Having spoken about the history of Bude Bowling Club she then thanked Ann for the work she had put into BC and the Division and thanked Colin Gardiner for his work as Divisional Treasurer. She finished by saying how important it had been to her to have the support of the clubs during her presidential year before proposing the toast to Bude Bowling Club.
Ladies Captain Doreen Pinnegar thanked Christine for her kind words and presented her with an orchid.
BC President Christine concluded the evening by presenting the trophies to the 2009 Competition winners.
