MORE than £250 was raised at a jumble sale towards the restoration of the front of the Luckett Miners Cottages.
East Cornwall Mining History Association still needs more to do the last window, and then restore the interior.
The immediate task is to carry out restoration of a door and a window, which will appear in a film about life for children there in the mid 1800s, to be filmed in August this year.
The main Miners Cottages project, however, is to restore the cottages to how they were by about 1900, and invite groups of local primary school children and adults, special interest groups and visitors to the area — to see just what it would have been like for miners living at the boom time of Cornish mining — large numbers crowded into any room, no services of any kind, an earth floor, and open fire to cook on.
Thanks were expressed to everyone who made the jumble sale so successful.
